Election 2024: Potential Milestones and Firsts

If elected, Sarah McBride (D-AL) would be the first openly transgender person to serve in the U.S. Congress. She is running for an open seat in a race that is currently rated as "Solidly Democrat."

If elected, Debbie Mucarsel Powell (D) would be the first Democratic woman to represent Florida in the U.S. Senate. She is running as a challenger in a race that is currently rated as "Likely Republican."

If elected, Valerie McCray (D) would be the first woman and first Black woman to represent Indiana in the U.S. Senate. She is running for an open seat that is currently rated as "Solidly Republican."
